KATRINA R. (BERTSCH) LILLY
Born: 08-10-1960, in Indiana
Died: 10-09-2007, at 47 years of age, in Phoenix, Maricopa County,
Arizona.
Katrina had been ill with a bad bought of bronchitis and had been
coughing when a blood vessel burst, and it was so severe that it took
her life. Katrina's family moved from Indiana to Phoenix, Arizona in
1957. Katrina's husband is Sid Lilly, III. Katrina was a lifetime member
for Historic Indiana. Katrina is predeceased by her Father, Howard R.
Bertsch (from Cambridge City, Indiana, dob: 09/20/1921 - dod: 12/1985);
her Mother, Elsie "Betty" Elizabeth (Price) Bertsch (was born and raised
in Eaton, Ohio and is a graduate of Dixon High School, dob: 01/01/1930 -
dod: 03/22/2005) Her parents married 12/22/1952. Katrina's Mother worked
for 20 years at Maryvale Hospital. Her parents last resided in Phoenix,
Maricopa County, Arizona 85031. The Bertsch family were longtime members
of North Phoenix Baptist Church. Katrina is also predeceased by both of
her brothers, Lemuel Seth Bertsch (died as an infant); and
Howard Roth Bertsch II, MHS; 1972. Both
parents and both brothers are interred in Indiana. Her Mother-in-law is
A. Pearl Lilly (dob: 07-22-1926). Katrina's Father-in-law is Sidney J.
Lilly, Jr. (dob: 04-16-1926 - dod: 11-09-2006, interred at Holy Cross
Cemetery, Our Lady of Guadalupe (OLG) section, plot 111). In lieu of
flowers, family suggests contributions in Katrina's name to
Arizona Baptist Children's Services,

Arrangements entrusted to Green Acres Glendale Mortuary. A graveside
service was held on Monday, 10/15/2007, at Holy Cross Cemetery, 10045
West Thomas Road, Avondale, Arizona; gravesite location is Lady of Mt.

Grimmett, grandson Taylor Poole. Viewing & Funeral Services were held
Monday, 04/18/2005 at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N 59th Avenue,
Glendale, Arizona. Interment will be in Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6290 W.
Northern Avenue, Glendale, Arizona 85301. Family suggests donations to

JEFFREY "Jeff" STERLING PASCHAL
Born: 08-02-1960
Died: 08-10-2000, while in active duty in a helicopter crash in Corpus
Christi, Texas.
Jeff is a Persian Gulf Veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Rank: AD1 (AW) (Aviation Machinists Mate 1st Class, Air Warfare)
Jeff earned and was awarded the following ribbons and medals: Navy
Commendation, Navy Achievement, Joint Meritorious Unit, Navy Unit
Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Battle E, Good Conduct,
National Defense, Antarctica Service, Southwest Asia, Humanitarian
Service, Sea Service, United Nation, NATO-Bosnia, Kuwait Liberation,
Kosovo and Pistol Expert. His patches are for his different squadrons:
Operation Deep Freeze-Antarctica, MH-15 (his squadron in Corpus Christi,
Texas), MH-14 (his squadron in Norfolk, Virginia). His pins are Petty
Officer 1st Class, Airwarfare Specialist, Air Crew, Aviation Machinist
Mate Insignia.
The Paschal family moved to Maryvale, Phoenix, Arizona in 1964 when
their Dad retired from the Air Force. Jeff attended John F. Long
elementary school and Frank Borman Junior High. In 1975-76, Jeff was on
the MHS Gymnastics team and a member of the Gymnastic club. Jeff and
fellow gymnast-alumni, Billy Weir, MHS; 1977, enjoyed Bull Riding during
his senior year and for a while afterwards, taking them all over
Arizona; he was a member of the Jr. Rodeo. MHS Gymnastic Coach Richard
"Dick" Schilling was Jeff's favorite teacher; Jeff really looked up to
him. Mr. Schilling passed away on the same day as Jeff, 08/10/2000. Jeff
was a Navy helicopter crew chief. Jeff joined the Navy in May 1987, and
had been in military service 13 years, at the time of the accident. Jeff
passed away at 40 years of age, on Thursday 08/10/2000 doing what he
loved; flying as a crew chief aboard a Navy MH-53E minesweeping
helicopter. His helicopter crashed on a training mission in Corpus
Christi, Texas. He served with honor in "Desert Shield" and "Desert
Storm" during the Persian Gulf War; and more recently in "Operation
Shining Hope" in Albania and Kosovo. He had also completed tours of duty
in "Operation Deep Freeze" in Antarctica; Norfolk, Virginia; Alameda,
California; Point Magu, California; and in Corpus Christi, Texas. Jeff
is survived by his wife of 19 years, Pam Paschal. They have two
daughters, Jennifer and Kathleen Paschal. Jeff's siblings are: John T.
Paschal (07/07/1944 - 09/27/1973), Jeri L. Paschal, MHS; 1966 (resides
in Phoenix, Arizona), Jay J. Paschal, MHS; 1972, Judi C. (Paschal)
Schlieter, MHS; 1973, and Joyce L. (Paschal) Osborn, MHS; 1977 (resides
in Dewey, Arizona). Their parents are both deceased: Clarence "Red" S.
Paschal (12/27/1923 - 01/14/1991) and Ruth B. Paschal (11/22/1922 -
06/28/2001); their Mother passed 10 months after Jeff's death. Memorial
services for Jeff were held on 08/17/2000 in the base theater at NAS
Corpus Christi, Texas, paying tribute and honoring Jeff and three other
crew members who lost their lives in the line of duty; and on 08/19/2000
at the Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 North 59th Avenue, Glendale,
Arizona. Jeff's request was to have his cremains scattered at Lake
Pleasant, Arizona. His headstone is placed at Phoenix Memorial Park, 200
West Beardsley, Phoenix, Arizona 85027, in Garden Rest I Section, Lot
196, Space C3; with their oldest brother John (who was killed in 1973),
located next to the Paschal family memorial bench. Contributions can be
made to a trust fund set aside for his two beautiful daughters at Navy
Army Federal Credit Union at # (361) 986-4500 or # 1-800-622-3631.

Carole lived in Arizona her whole life. She graduated from Maryvale High
School in 1978. She was a licensed cosmetologist. Survivors include her
daughter Alexis Woodley; parents Madeline and Charles Woodley; sister,
Sherry McCan; brothers, Mike Woodley, Donald McCan (Cora) and Dan McCan,
MHS; 1973; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Carol will be greatly
missed. Services were on 12/06/2002 at Maryvale Chapel, 6901 West Indian
School Road, Phoenix, Arizona. Interment at Resthaven Park Cemetery,
6290 West Northern Avenue, Glendale, Arizona 85301; Section 18, Block
